THE INFRA-ORDINARY IN CLAY

Artist Khaled Dawwa captures a sense of war-hit Syria, he recreates a street scene through his sculpture. An infra-ordinary street as seen by Syrian citizens. The sculpture speaks volumes of the bloodshed, collateral damage and trauma that is inflicted upon the citizens during a war.

Serving as the battlefield for years now, Syria is largely drought-stricken and impoverished. With broken infrastructure, structures and debris heaped up everywhere, the sculpture brings to life Syrian streets laden with suffering and destruction.
