This time last year the IKEA refugee shelter was declared the worldwide Design of the Year (Scott Smith noting that "The day after the announcement of the prize, I sensed a collective sigh of despair among my colleagues working on refugee issues"(read more ) however, the structure came with the backing of the United Nations (UN) Refugee Agency, who purchased 15,000 units for distribution around the world. This year, humanitarian expert Kilian Kleinschmidt suggests, "Don't design yet another shelter for refugees"....
